Since the 1990s all vehicles have been made with fuel injectors instead of the carburetor. The fuel injector is responsible for controlling the amount of fuel that is used by your car engine. It is a simple component in a complex system that can cause a lot of problems if not properly maintained. So how do you know when a fuel injector's performance is decreasing? Here are a few of the signs to look for that might indicate a problem with your fuel injectors.

If your vehicle is having difficulty starting, it might be due to a problem with the fuel not reaching the engine or leaking into the engine overnight causing it to flood in the morning. Another sign is a decrease in your fuel efficiency. As you drive your vehicle and run through tank after tank of fuel, eventually the high temperature in the engine and very small unfiltered particles passing through the fuel system build up. This results in a poor spray pattern from the injectors making larger fuel droplets instead of a fine mist. Difficulty with idling is also a sign that fuel is having problems reaching your engine as could be a change in the ability to start your car based on the weather.

If you are noticing any of these symptoms, be sure to call or come by and let our ASE certified technicians service your vehicle today. You can also schedule an appointment online.
